Bee-Cause we care.....

About

We are three Girl Scouts from Duncannon Troop 623; Colleen, Jessica, and Jamie.

Lately there has been a noticeable decrease in the pollinator population in our area. To help bring back the pollinators, we teamed up with Dauphin County's  Wildwood Park to create a Pollinator Garden.

Our garden is certified by the Penn State Extension!

Many thanks to Karen Carlson and her beautiful photographs.

Our Project

Jessica designed the garden, collected plants, and planted a pollinator garden. This pollinator garden is located in front of the Olewine Nature Center and includes native pollinator plants.

Colleen constructed houses for the pollinators and are placed in the garden and around the park. These habitat additions ensure that the pollinators have the necessary protection to reside in these areas, which will hopefully lead to their population growth.

Jamie developed educational material for the public to learn how they can take action as well. She created a display, brochures, and this website to teach the public how to make simple changes to their own home gardens.
